Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 8, 2008 -- As the sun sets on Pearl Beach, a beautifully fit, active mother strolls home, hand in hand with her 3-year-old while the other two are not far behind. Her girlish glamour still radiates, while a serene and loving look of calm graces her face. With glimmers of amber sunlight sparkling in her eyes, she finds peace in knowing that life is as it should be. She is home ....
Heather Fish knew what she wanted from a swimsuit when she created Pearl Swimwear in 2005: function, flair and quality. She understood the need of fashionista mothers who wanted stylish and comfortable swimwear without all the skin. Before production of Pearl's Spring 2006 debut collection was complete, Women's Wear Daily featured one of the line's key suits in its editorial fashion spread. Major department stores and world renowned boutiques were lining up to view the collection, while publications such as Vogue, Allure, Elle, Lucky, Fitness and Glamour were calling to feature Pearl Swimwear's suits and cover-ups. A phenomenon was born.
Although Pearl was receiving the type of praise and recognition that most designers dream of, Heather Fish has decided to stay true to herself and her family. "It's extremely difficult for me to hold Pearl back from its potential, but keeping it small is simply more manageable at this time," said an emotional Heather Fish. "I started this company out of need, as a mother, to develop the perfect swimwear for mothers everywhere. For that same reason however, I had to realize my priorities. I am and always will be a designer at heart, but more importantly I am a mother of three amazing boys."
With questions about the future of Pearl Swimwear, Fish decided to share her story with the buyers and media outlets that she had established relationships with. All Spring 2008 orders were canceled, with a personal call from Fish letting them know of her decision and pending plans. The cancellation of store orders was a necessity, as Fish believed it to be unethical if Pearl continued to fill orders while at the same time, selling the same product for wholesale prices. A select number of pieces from her Spring 2008 collection will be produced, and available at exclusive home trunk shows and on Pearl Swimwear's website. Importantly for Fish, she wanted mothers from all walks of life to be able to enjoy Pearl's suits and cover-ups. For this, Fish will now offer all her merchandise exclusively at wholesale prices.
"The fabrics and accessories that I use are of the best quality, which forced my wholesale and retail prices to skyrocket," explained Fish. "I was missing my target client, which is a fresh, darling mom that may not care to spend $180 for a swimsuit, and another $150 for the matching cover-up. I knew I had to get back to my roots and offer my collection at prices most could afford."
With a feeling of 'unbelievable optimism,' Fish looks forward to what the future holds. She will continue to design and create unique, top quality swimwear and cover-ups as she draws creative inspiration from her husband and three children. Excited to design what she wants when she wants, Fish hopes to return to the market one day. One thing is certain, it will happen at her own pace. "I plan on coming back one day, when the time is right. It will just have to happen naturally."
