RareShare Announces New Social Hub for Rare Medical Disorders

RareShare (http://www.RareShare.org), a website dedicated to building awareness about rare disorders, has announced today that it is launching a social hub designed to bring together patients, families and healthcare professionals to share information and personal knowledge about rare disorders.

Boulder, CO (PRWEB) March 3, 2008 -- RareShare (http://www.RareShare.org), a website dedicated to building awareness about rare disorders, has announced today that it is launching a social hub designed to bring together patients, families and healthcare professionals to share information and personal knowledge about rare disorders.

While rare disorders may seem to impact only a small portion of the population, together they affect over 30 million individuals in the United States and Europe alone. In the United States there are as many as 1,500 diseases that qualify for orphan/rare diseases status and an estimated 5,000 to 8,000 diseases qualifying in the European Union.

There are thousands of rare diseases that affect millions of patients ever year, yet there is still a lack of information and personal knowledge being published and shared on the Web
"There are thousands of rare diseases that affect millions of patients ever year, yet there is still a lack of information and personal knowledge being published and shared on the Web," explained David Isserman, Co-Founder and President of RareShare. "Our goal is to increase the level of communication by allowing RareShare members to share experiences, explore treatment options and find support among others affected by the same, or similar, disorders," he added.

Currently, RareShare is accepting invitation requests from visitors who wish to participate as founding members in its private alpha communities scheduled to launch in March 2008. To request an invitation, visit http://www.RareShare.org.
