ARS Technologies Releases SSI2_ISA and SSI2_PCI Products

ARS Technologies Inc. expanded its SSI2 line of products to include the SSI2_ ISA and SSI2_PCI products.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) March 10, 2008 -- San Diego based hardware and software manufacturer ARS Technologies, Inc. expanded its SSI2 line of products to include the SSI2_ ISA and SSI2_PCI products.

Peripheral cards based on a variety of computer system buses increase the functionality and add features in the standard computer systems.

The SSI2_ISA product allows customers to use ISA bus peripheral cards on desktop and notebook computers.

The ISA bus has disappeared from the mainstream computer systems sold today. However ISA bus peripheral cards are still developed and used in the embedded, industrial, medical, scientific and military markets. Likewise, there is a large area of applications that rely on previously purchased and/or custom programmed ISA bus peripheral cards.

These users still want to use ISA bus peripheral cards on the modern computer hardware and on modern operating systems. ARS Technologies' SSI2_ISA product allows continued use of ISA bus peripheral cards.

The SSI2_PCI product allows customers to use PCI bus peripheral cards on desktop and notebook computers.

The PCI bus is available on desktop computer systems and has been the mainstream computer peripheral. However, manufacturing production of notebooks surpasses desktop computer manufacturing numbers. Yet, these notebook systems do not have PCI bus peripheral.

In addition, theses shrinking desktop computers come with less PCI slots. These slots are getting displaced by PCI Express slots

USB based peripherals have massively overtaken the application and use of PCI bus peripheral cards. However the USB and the PCI bus protocols are vastly different and require a large development effort which makes the transition more difficult.

ARS Technologies SSI2_PCI product permits continued use of PCI bus peripheral.

A specific host card is needed in order to use the SSI2_ISA and SSI2_PCI products on a desktop or a notebook.

The SSI2 line of products including the SSI2_ISA and SSI2_PCI products work on all of the environments they support:

- Windows - 98, ME, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista
- Linux - 2.4.xx and 2.6.xx kernels
- Mac OS X - v10.4 Tiger and v10.5 Leopard
