Dailymotion Launches Latino Channel

Programming to highlight entertaining, culturally relevant content for the Latino community.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 19, 2008 -- Dailymotion, the world's largest independent video sharing site, today announced the addition of "Latino" to the site's growing list of popular channels. The channel's programming will explore Latino culture through content in both English and Spanish including music videos, lifestyle vlogs, sketch and stand-up comedy videos, film trailers, travel videos, web originals and Hollywood TV programs, making this unique cultural perspective accessible to Dailymotion's audience in the United States.

The channel will include Latino-focused content from partners such as SíTV (Dating Factory, The Drop, Adrenalina, Jammin), MTVN (MTV Tr3s), Nacional Records (Manu Chao, Aterciopelados, Nortec Collective, Plastilina Mosh, The Pinker Tones, Mexican Institute of Sound, Pacha Massice, DJ Bitman, Los Tres) and Universal Music (Enrique-Iglesias, Juanes, Luis-Fonsi). The Latino channel will also include programming from Motionmaker creative contributors including original sketch comedy from Room 28, the latest in urban Latin youth culture from Barrio305 and the best in Latin culture, art, food and drama from Bullfighter's Café.

Dailymotion has already cultivated a large and active Latino audience. As with Dailymotion's existing thematically-categorized channels such as Funny, Music, News & Politics, Sports & Extreme, the Latino channel will be programmed by Dailymotion's editorial team to feature videos from both professional content producers as well as from Dailymotion's Motionmaker program for its most creative users. This strategy of combining professional along with user-generated content around users' areas of interest allows Dailymotion to provide the most well-rounded selection of content in a manner that better enables viewers to discover, view and share the content they love.

"We believe that bringing the highest quality programming to our audience includes creating channels that match their interests," said Joy Marcus, Dailymotion's general manager, US. "By launching our Latino channel, Dailymotion is now better serving the needs of its large Latino audience for quality video content online."

"The Latino community in the U.S. has proven to be one of the most creatively active on the Dailymotion site," said Danny Passman, Dailymotion's senior creative director. "We're confident that the new channel will provide an enhanced user-experience for this important population, and we look forward to attracting even more Latino contributors who may not have been familiar with Dailymotion previously."
