Who let the frogs out? The New Critter Skimmer let the frogs out

Cape Neddick, Maine (PRWEB) March 24, 2008 -- It's a tough world out there. Frogs and small critters around the globe inevitably find their way into in-ground pools and end up fighting for survival with no means of escape from the pool skimmer. Enter the new Critter Skimmer - a spiral rescue ramp attached to a skimmer cover that allows frogs and critters to crawl to safety.

The Critter Skimmer allows frogs or any small critter to exit the pool skimmer without interacting with the pool owner. Pool owners may never know that they have hosted an overnight pool party unless they happen to see the party-goers hopping away the next morning.

Last summer at his home in southern Maine, Brian Meagher invented the Critter Skimmer. After years of finding frogs in his family's pool skimmer, Meagher knew that "there had to be a way to save the frogs," adding that "natural instinct takes over when critters are faced with life or death, citing the company's motto 'We create the opportunity. Nature does the rest.'"

Pool industry professionals have been quick to embrace the innovation. The Critter Skimmer debuted at the Atlantic City Pool & Spa Show in January 2008 and again at the Florida Pool & Spa Show in February. Pool builders and pool servicers know that their customers want to help the environment and see the Critter Skimmer as a "green" alternative that is beneficial, not detrimental to the survivability of frogs. When given a choice, pool owners want to save frogs, use less pool chemicals, and reduce their eco-footprint.

The Association of Zoos and Aquariums has declared 2008 the Year of the Frog, citing declining frog populations around the globe as a cause for concern. Critter Skimmer offers a way for pool owners everywhere to do their part for conservation.
