Unique IT Security Product to be Launched at RSA Conference in San Francisco
In April, Inspekt Security will be launching a groundbreaking security product in California at the largest IT security trade fair in the world: RSA® Conference 2008. As rule-based network security is a thing of the past, Inspekt Security is entering the market with a new type of network monitoring that records unusual events based on machine-learning technology.
(PRWEB) April 4, 2008 -- Out with the rules and in with machine learning in security products. That's the prescription of the Colorado Company Inspekt Security, Inc when the company will be presenting a new revolutionary approach to IT security for large networks.

"Our approach to network monitoring signifies a total departure from conventional methods. Instead of rule-based monitoring, we base our solution on holistic algorithms that search for unusual events. This is unique, because rule-based monitoring only catches the things we know already. As a result, discovering new security threats has been impossible for the simple reason that the threats have not been included in the monitoring parameters," states Marco MacArtney, Director of Inspekt Security.
Rule-based monitoring fails to deliver
The approach is already the object of attention in security circles round the world. This is because all network administrators are becoming increasingly overloaded with enormous log files and insufficient tools for safeguarding their networks. The race to counter the threat - from the time a new vulnerability becomes known until software patches are issued - is becoming more and more of a draw. A few years ago, you might have had a few weeks in which to safeguard your systems, but that situation is a thing of the past. Thus, in many cases, you simply don't have time to react before your security system's flaw has already been exploited.
"The entire industry knows that rule-based systems are starting to fail. They cannot keep up with the rising levels of network activity and modern security threats. As a result, users are overwhelmed with information that is at best useless, but we are changing all that," MacArtney says.
More intelligence, better perspective
For instance, the new system - InspektOne - discovers changes to login frequency or reacts to a sudden deletion of critical data, both of which may indicate something is amiss. A traditional security system would never be able to intercept this, as it does not do anything that is not already described as a security threat. "This is where we stand out from the crowd by providing a prioritized list of interesting events. Even if we scan fifty million logs, the user will only be notified of the most important, like a list of thirty events. This enhances the user's perspective, making InspektOne a useful tool for daily use," MacArtney believes.
Global company from day one
Inspekt Security has spent the last year developing InspektOne. The monitoring market is enormous and Inspekt Security is launching InspektOne as a flexibly hosted solution where the customer can get off to a quick and easy start without having to add new hardware or clients. Thus, the company is ready for powerful growth from day one. Customers can monitor their own network or leave the monitoring up to Inspekt Services (Inspekt Security's professional services department).
"Of course it is exciting to launch a brand-new solution to a well-known and growing problem, and because we have the right people and partners and because of the general feedback we have received from experts and the market in general, we are convinced we have got a success on our hands," Marco MacArtney concludes.
