5,000 Runners and Walkers are Expected this Saturday to Participate in the Brain Tumor Path to Progress 5K Run/Walk
All proceeds will be awarded to brain tumor researchers to develop more effective treatments; to investigate cause; and ultimately, to find the cure for all brain tumors.
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 22, 2008 -- More than 5,000 people, will gather on Chicago's beautiful lakefront, at Montrose Harbor, this Saturday, April 26th, to run or walk, to share their stories, to heighten awareness of brain tumors, and to celebrate their outstanding fundraising achievements. These supporters of brain tumor research have already raised over $500,000. All proceeds will be awarded to brain tumor researchers to develop more effective treatments; to investigate cause; and ultimately, to find the cure for all brain tumors.

This patient/survivor, family-friendly event is sponsored by New Balance Chicago, Jewel-Osco and once again WGN- TV Anchor, Valerie Warner, will be the lead walker. The run/walk starting time is 10 a.m. but everyone is encouraged to come about 8 a.m. to enjoy the refreshments and the festivities, including a Ronald McDonald show, Jesse White Tumblers and the Bally Performance Team.
Online registration www.abta.org is open until noon on April 24th; runners/walkers are $25 and $10 for kids 4-12. After that time, registration will be available on event day. Fees will be $30 for runners/walkers, kids $15, and brain tumor patient/survivors and children under 4 are free; but all must register. This 5K run is a CARA registered race and medals will be awarded to the top runners by age groups.
The American Brain Tumor Association is commemorating its 35th anniversary this year and invites everyone to join them in their Path to Progress.
