Xulon Title Urges Christians to Take Inventory of Their Views

Independent thinker hopes to win souls in eye-opening new book

Longwood, FL (PRWEB) May 8, 2008 -- In Things They Don't Tell You Before Becoming a Christian (paperback, 978-1-60477-654-6), a new book from Xulon author Frederick R. Sheffield, the author calls for a restoration of the church to foundational principles built upon the authority of the Bible. Biblical truth impacts everyone's worldview and future rewards, thus understanding doctrine should be a priority for every Christian. Various doctrinal teachings have been spawned throughout church history that can lead to confusion. In Sheffield's book, the author takes a fresh approach to Scripture, examining four doctrines with the hope that it will challenge or solidify every reader's preconceived notions.

Says the author, "The most important thing I want people to gain from my book is having some of their preconceived notions challenged. I want people to gain skills that help them test the popular emotional-driven theologies coming from pulpits today so the Western church can once again have an impact on society. I hope people can mature, enjoy more blessings in heaven, and win souls on earth from taking a more critical examination of their views."

The subjects must be addressed with sincerity and accuracy since unity within the church is required of us.
A member of the independent nondenominational Christian churches, Sheffield has attempted to impartially read and understand Scripture and then teach others some of its relevance outside of any one denominational perspective. "The theological topics were carefully chosen are discussed by many Christians today, and they have a polarizing effect within the church," he says. "The subjects must be addressed with sincerity and accuracy since unity within the church is required of us."

Xulon Press, a part of Salem Communications Corporation, is the world's largest Christian publisher, with more than 5,000 titles published to date. Retailers may order Things They Don't Tell You Before Becoming a Christian through Ingram Book Company and/or Spring Arbor Book Distributors.
