Wayland, Mass. (PRWEB) May 9, 2008 -- Sports LearningEdge LLC (SLE) has appointed Paul Stewart to help the company capitalize on the wildly successful Hockey PlayersEdge site launched with the National Hockey League last year. The company partners with sports stake holders to help them provide parents and their kids worldwide the online learning tools to get an edge in sports and in life.

Mr. Stewart brings four decades of experience as a college player at the University of Pennsylvania and professional player in the WHA and NHL. Stewart later became the first American-born referee in NHL history to work 1,000 career games. His milestone contest came on March 15, 2003 at the Fleet Center in his hometown of Boston. He retired from NHL officiating after the 2002-03 season and now serves as the Men's League Supervisor of Officials for ECAC Hockey.

"What an exciting time for hockey!" said Paul Stewart "The timing for SLE and its unique youth Learning model to impact the future of our game couldn't be better. Joining the SLE team gives me a real opportunity to give back to the sport that has been such an important part of my life."

The Hockey PlayersEdge was developed by Sports LearningEdge LLC in collaboration with experts from the fields of online learning, video gaming, youth sports and professional ice hockey. By incorporating SLE's Patent Pending On-Demand Sports Learning™ system, members can choose what they want to learn, when in the style and language they prefer.

Sport LearningEdge's CEO Peter Banhazl said "We couldn't be more excited to welcome Paul to our group and look forward to his helping us bring our powerful online hockey skills learning to parents and their kids around the world."
