Global Online Court System Is Launched at RealVerdict.com - 'Real Community Justice'

Putting friends, celebrities, politicians and favorite issues on trial to receive a "real verdict". Witnesses summoned digitally, evidence uploaded, damages awarded - all Online. Anyone can join the worldwide Juror pool.

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 11, 2008 -- Justice has moved into the digital age with the launch of the online worldwide court system - RealVerdict.com.

On RealVerdict anyone can set up an online court trial against any person or any issue they choose at no charge. There currently are cases on topics as diverse as the overweight woman who paid her boyfriend for sex, to the impact of the Federal interest rates cut on world hunger.

"This is about community justice on a global scale - not just a pool of 12 reluctant jurors," said RealVerdict's Chris Travers. "RealVerdict offers a chance for real people to create cases on issues that matter to them - this goes way beyond the typical ability to vote on causes raised in the media."

"It is a social experiment that can be used for fun and serious means. But it also holds the potential to bring together the power of the Internet and the wisdom of the crowd for a faster, better justice system."

The site's case categories include Politics, Celebrity, Sports, Work, School, Technology, Religion, Crime, Media, Family, Home and the Service Industry.

Plaintiffs can state their case, describe the damages they seek, upload evidence including video, documents and photos, and they can call witnesses. The defendant receives electronic notice of their trial so they can prepare their own case. Members vote as jurors and the votes are tallied and the verdict awarded after several days.

Users can track cases via a Facebook application.

The site also offers an Opinion-On-Demand service where for $39.95 anybody can get a professional legal case review on any subject of their choosing, and includes case histories from premium law report databases and an assessment of the outcome. Additionally, to save on mounting legal costs, there is an online discount Paralegal service for legal back-office work such as document review and patent research.
