Tillson, NY (PRWEB) May 15, 2008 -- WineRacks.com, manufacturer of quality wine storage products for residential and commercial applications, is proud to announce their new eco-friendly product line of Lyptus wine racking. Lyptus is a trademark name for hardwood lumber manufactured from a selected Eucalyptus species. Planted and grown on well-managed plantations, Lyptus provides a sustainable, high performance hardwood that works perfectly in a wine cellar environment.

The Eucalyptus trees are grown on plantations certified to Brazil's national sustainable forestry standard. These plantations were once agricultural and grazing lands and are managed to maintain the natural habitat. Original species, native to the area over 100 years ago, have been reintroduced into this ecosystem. Eucalyptus trees grow very quickly and may be harvested within 14 to 16 years. Virtually every portion of the tree is used by either being converted to lumber and by-products or as fuel for the mills.

Lyptus is harder than oak and varies in color from dark red to light pink. It accepts stain very well and can be finished to resemble other exotic woods, such as mahogany or cherry or left in its natural state. Because of its density and moisture tolerance, Lyptus is right at home in the moisture rich wine cellar environment.

WineRacks.com now offers their Premium Cellar Series of wine racking in both Lyptus and mahogany. The Premium Cellar Series consists of modular wine racks that can be used together to create a "custom" wine cellar look without the time and cost of a traditional custom wine cellar. Features such as 77 ¼" height, individual bottle displays, matching cabinetry, toe and crown molding allow the "do-it-yourselfer" to create a custom-looking wine cellar.

Lyptus is manufactured by Aracrus Produtos de Madeira (APM) S.A., a joint venture between Weyerhaeuser and APM and is available in the United States from Weyerhaeuser.

WineRacks.com has been designing and manufacturing wine storage products for residences, bars, restaurants, retail wine and liquor stores since 1992 in the Hudson Valley of New York. Racks are manufactured of mahogany, cedar, oak, pine and now Lyptus. In addition, we have a website where we retail our racking as well as a broad selection of wine accessories.
