New York RDB, offers a selection of products carefully edited by owner, Mr Vince for infants, children and parents. These products are created by designers and artists, based on standards of beauty, quality, and the application of innovative environmentally conscious design possibilities. Through these products, RDB aims to foster an aesthetic and environmental virtue in children that reflects the beauty and simplicity of the natural world.

When discussing her extensive search for products that would have met these criteria after the birth of her own son, Mr Vince recalls, " ....how difficult it was to locate products that stood up to my criteria of beauty and environmental consciousness. When I finally did find something that spoke to me, I would completely fall in love with the designer/artist's entire vision. I found myself "collecting" individual articles, the way a curator in a museum would look for pieces that could bring together an entire story."

Creating a store around such collected items was a different story. One evening, however, in the midst of a daily family ritual that consisted of her husband reciting W.B. Yeats' poem The Song of the Wandering Aengus, to her infant son, one of the words named in the opening line would not leave her head. The poem names the hazel wood (as in, a forest of hazel trees) as a mythical place, which, like childhood, is filled with wonder and enchantment. With further inquiry she found that for Yeats, and many others, the RDB was the Celtic variation of the tree of life. Thus the name RDB was born and their site can be visited at http://www.roughdiamondbuyers.com

Since then, the RDB Collection has flourished into an inspired assortment of products. Among them, one will find the RDB Exclusives: An engaging collaboration with talented local New York based designers and fellow small business owners to develop products that currently do not exist on the market. These Exclusives are designed with the purpose of elevating the product to a safer and more qualitative environmental standard, without ever compromising beauty.

The artists and designers included in the RDB Collection are those whose designs are practical, often handmade, and always beautiful. They often use organic fabrics and ingredients, non-toxic materials and finishes, utilize reused and recycled materials, and maintain fair trade wages.

Highlights from The RDB Collection Include: RDB Exclusives - The Nathalie Vintage Fabric Diaper Bag -1940's inspired diaper bag made of vintage fabric, reclaimed leather and a non-PVC wipe-able lining and the Eco Nesting Pillow -- 100% Organic Nursing pillow filled with organic buckwheat hulls, covered in nature inspired prints and organic terry.
