FootageBank HD Selected to Represent 'Faces of Earth' Collection

Acclaimed Series' Images Include Formation of the Planet, Evolution of the Continents and Aerial Coverage from Around the World

Los Angeles (PRWEB) July 9, 2008 -- FootageBank HD, the sole footage company specializing in High Definition (HD) content, announced today they have been selected as the only HD house representing footage from the acclaimed Faces of Earth series produced by the American Geological Institute (AGI) and Evergreen Films for The Science Channel. The series uses computer-generated imagery (CGI) to show events such as the formation of the continents and dramatic simulations of the Ice Age forming over the earth and then receding, leaving the oceans and continents behind. Following the story from the formation of the planet to the evolution of the continents, the producers filmed aerial coverage of some of the most beautiful and dramatic locations earth; from Africa and Europe to the Pacific Northwest.

In addition to providing these images to their broadcast clients, FootageBank HD will work with AGI's existing partners - including the American Geological Institute Foundation; The Jackson School of Geosciences, University of Texas at Austin; and the United States Geological Survey - to provide clips from the collection at no charge for their use and study.

"The high definition images used in this series are truly unique and we selected FootageBank HD as our stock footage partner because of their complete understanding and appreciation of the market that could best utilize them," said Christopher Keane, director of communications and technology at AGI. "It was also important to find a company who could appreciate the philanthropic side of what we do and the scientific groups that should benefit from the use of these images. FootageBank HD had that desired combination of best serving the business and scientific community."

The Faces of Earth four-part series explores how the Earth is constantly remade by the forces of nature and employs state-of-the-art computer graphics, aerial photography, and science in exploring Earth's past, present and future geologic story. From the formation of the planet to the emergence of life, and the dynamic internal and external processes that have shaped our world and culture, Faces of Earth brings Earth to life. "Our clients are clamoring for creative and unusual images of the earth in formation, effects of the Ice Age and global warming, as well as depictions of science, space and evolution," said Paula Lumbard, founder and president of FootageBank HD. "Having worked with the Faces of Earth series since its inception, it is exciting to see the quality of images it has produced and an honor to be representing such a body of work."
