Angel Orensanz Exhibit Opens at Permanent Gallery of the Museum Fondazione Orestiadi (Sicily)

Museum Fondazione Orestiadi (Sicily) opens a permanent gallery of the work of Angel Orensanz. Roots of the Earth, a sculpture that opens up the soul of Mediterranean Landscape.

Palermo, Italy (PRWEB) July 14, 2008 -- The Museum of the Orestiadi Foundation at Gibellina (Sicily) has just opened to the public, a permanent gallery with sculptures of Angel Orensanz. This last addition enriches the art collections of one of the most complete art centers of the Mediterranean, Northern Africa and the Near East countries. Besides painting and sculptures, it schedules annual music, poetry and theater festivals of the contemporary avant-garde.

The Orensanz Gallery is made up of various acrylic sculptures that create a total atmosphere of their own. "Sky Web", the collective title of the art gallery has been curated and commented by contemporary prestigious art historian Dr. Achille Bonito Oliva, who has written a strong text titled "The Joyous Instability of Art" in which he establishes Angel Orensanz as part of the Transavantgarde.

This is the essence of the topicality of Orensanz: with his vibrant clarity foresaw several forms of consciousness, among them the Transavangarda, as a relationship with the internal nature of art.
The opening of the Orensanz Room comes accompanied by an exhibition of drawings of the Spanish author in an adjacent gallery and in an outdoor installation that includes a tree and a mountain near the Foundation. Its title is: "Roots of the Earth". In this sculpture the Spanish/American artist invokes in a lyrical and dramatic manner, the cry of an earth in the throes of death and tears. This exhibition will stay open until the beginning of October.

The sculpture "Sky Web" was exhibited for the first time in Italy, at the Castle della Cuba in Palermo, last Spring, from where it traveled to the Orestiadi Foundation.

The role of Angel Orensanz in the contemporary art scene was made prominent by professor and curator of this exhibition, Dr. Achille Bonito Oliva, who wrote in the catalogue, "This is the essence of the topicality of Orensanz: with his vibrant clarity foresaw several forms of consciousness, among them the Transavangarda, as a relationship with the internal nature of art."
