(PRWEB) July 24, 2008 -- Blockbuster is delighted to announce that the latest Blockbuster Exclusive - 'Son of Rambow' is now available to rent at Blockbuster.co.uk. A brilliant, cheeky, coming of age comedy set in suburban England in 1982, Son of Rambow tells the story of two boys who, inspired by the release of the first Rambo movie, decide to make their own home movie sequel. One of the best British films of the past decade, Son of Rambow is ONLY available at Blockbuster.

For those who want to see the latest, greatest new releases before anyone else, Blockbuster strives to give its customers excellent value for money by giving them the chance to see great films first. Available on both DVD and Blu-ray disc, visitors to Blockbuster.co.uk can get Son of Rambow, along with many other exclusive titles free, as part of a trial of Blockbuster.co.uk's award winning online rental service. Existing members can also rent titles like Son of Rambow on the High Definition Blu-ray format, for no extra rental cost.

Son Of Rambow is a cheeky, coming-of-age comedy set in suburban England in 1982, which became the surprise hit and hot ticket of last year's Sundance Film Festival.

The film stars talented young newcomers Will Poulter and Bill Milner as two little boys who embark on a heart-rending and hilarious adventure. 10 year old Will (Bill Milner) has led a very sheltered life. His strict religious and moral upbringing has excluded the adolescent joys of music, TV and movies and excitement is in pretty short supply. Until that is, he finds himself caught up in the extraordinary world of Lee Carter (Will Poulter) - the school terror and maker of bizarre home movies.

Armed with a big video camera and even bigger ambitions they attempt to make a home movie "Son of Rambow", in homage to their hero Rambo. Supporting cast includes Jessica Hynes (Confetti), Eric Sykes (Harry Potter and the Goblet and Fire) and Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl, Breaking and Entering).

In addition to offering Son of Rambow exclusively for rental, Blockbuster.co.uk has also teamed up with Optimum to give 20 winners, the chance to win a copy of the film on either DVD or Blu-ray. Visitors to the site can enter for free by clicking on 'Competitions' and following the on-screen instructions.

The latest in a long line of exclusive titles available only at Blockbuster that have included Jack Nicholson / Morgan Freeman movie 'The Bucket List' and 300 spoof 'Meet the Spartans'; Son of Rambow is a nostalgic look at the eighties, best described (by Blockbuster) as a This is England meets Billy Elliot.

Blockbuster Inc. (NYSE: BBI and BBI.B) was founded in Dallas, Texas in 1985 and is a leading global provider of in-home rental, retail movie and game entertainment.

In 20 years, Blockbuster has grown from a single video rental store to nearly 9000 company-operated and franchised stores throughout the United States, its territories and 23 other countries.

The first Blockbuster store in the UK opened in March 1989 (Walworth Road, London) and the UK is now the largest Blockbuster business outside the US, with over 700 stores and about 4.2 million member accounts. Blockbuster.co.uk has around 1 million registered members and about 750,000 newsletter subscribers.

Blockbuster's goal is to be a complete source for movies and games, and the company is continually looking for ways to offer its customers more value, choice and convenience. To this end, in September 2002, Blockbuster UK introduced its online DVD rental service. This service has grown and now allows customers to have access to almost every DVD available in the UK.
