Research conducted by OxygenToGo indicates that airlines can cut fuel costs by reducing the weight of oxygen-related equipment onboard aircraft. Oxygen-dependent passengers using portable oxygen concentrators (POCs) instead of traditional steel oxygen tanks reduce their equipment weight by 42 lbs. (70 percent) for short haul flights and 110 lbs. (85 percent) for long haul flights.
