Inspiration Network International Launches on the UK’s Newest Platform, FREESAT
Freesat’s subscription-free, HD service is available to 98%of homes in the UK.
Charlotte, NC (Vocus/PRWEB ) July 23, 2008 -– An agreement has been reached for the launch of Inspiration Network International (INI) on Freesat, the joint venture between the BBC and ITV. The INI launch will take place on Thursday, 24 July, 2008, on channel 690. The announcement was made today by Kyle Young, Director of International Operations, The Inspiration Networks.
“We are extremely pleased that INI will be available throughout the UK via Freesat,” Young said. “We have been delighted with our consumer response from BSkyB but Freesat is an important, new distribution platform that has made satellite television affordable for many more families – particularly during these economically challenging times. This launch helps us fulfil our goal of making INI available to every household in the U.K.”
Launched in January 2005, INI was developed after more than twelve years of research. INI has become the fastest growing inspirational network for the international audience. “Our goal is to make INI culturally relevant,” Young said. “Not duplicating our U.S. networks (INSP, i-Lifetv, and LFC), INI’s content reflects a global perspective with a wide range of programmes specifically of interest to the international audience. We continue to embrace all delivery methods in all markets so that quality, faith-based content remains an option for viewers on every platform.”
Freesat provides subscription-free digital television throughout the U.K., giving consumers the luxury of high-definition, digital television and radio at no cost other than a dedicated set-top box and satellite dish.
Young said that Freesat viewers will receive the same line-up of exclusive and original programming that is available on BSkyB. This includes a wide variety of musical series and specials, indigenous UK ministry programmes and content for teens, with the Steelroots block, fuelled by exclusive programmes featuring extreme sports and music.
Initially available through Hotbird 6, INI was added to the BSkyB line-up on April 4, 2005. In addition to the launch earlier this year in thirty-one African countries via MultiChoice Africa, INI is also available throughout continental Europe via cable, and in Australia and New Zealand via satellite.
