International Photography Awards (IPA) announced the winners of this year's IPA Photographer of the Year awards.

About Henk-Jan Wesselink ('Daskar'):
Henk-Jan Wesselink, 34 years, born in Emmen, the Netherlands, currently living and working in Budapest, Hungary, with his partner Annelies Pilon. Henk-Jan is an HR Manager with a US Professional Services Firm, where he is responsible for Central & Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Henk-Jan is an avid photographer having pursued his passion for photography for just over 4 years. He publishes under the name of Daskar, a name he started using when making graffiti back in the 1980's. He also uses this name when he lives out his other passion: scratching and producing beats. Henk-Jan has a unique ability to portray people the way they really are. He captures personalities in split seconds and always works under available light and the setting of the moment. Focusing mainly on people and 'decisive moments', Henk-Jan's true love for people shows both in his photography work as well as in his professional life. Adding to his drive for action, travel and adventure, in another life and another world, Henk-Jan might have decided to become war photographer. Whether this ever happens time will tell. For now he is very happy to be able to combine his working and private life. Photographers that continue to inspire Henk-Jan are Sally Soames, Anton Corbijn, Henri Cartier-Bresson, James Nachtwey and Sebastiao Salgado.

Henk-Jan holds a MSc's degree in Communication Studies from Twente University, the Netherlands.
