Orlando, FL (Vocus/PRWEB ) November 20, 2008 -- I/ITSEC, The largest exhibition of simulation technology ever held, will feature cutting-edge medical simulations ranging from mass casualty scenarios to virtual surgery to epidemic prediction and management on December 1-4 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Sprawling over the equivalent of four football fields of exhibition space, almost 600 exhibitors will participate in this extensive event. The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC), will attract leading medical researchers, educators and practitioners from around the world.

While simulation technology and related fields such as haptics and robotics are increasingly important to a wide range of health and medical applications, I/ITSEC will also feature the full range of simulation training applications–from natural and man-made disaster scenarios, to weather and other natural phenomena prediction, to military and first responder training, to serious games and cultural and linguistic training. All types of modeling and simulation will be represented–live, constructive and virtual, with the latter featuring virtual worlds and totally immersive environments.

Highlighting the medical component of I/ITSEC will be two conferences that will explore the promise and potential of medical modeling and simulation. The first, “Building the Foundation for Medical Modeling and Simulation”, will feature participants from industry, academia and the military. The event will explore how best to weave this powerful new tool into all aspects of medical training and how various professional communities can best work together to determine a road map for the future of medical modeling and simulation.

The second conference, “Future Applications of Modeling and Simulation for Medical Education, Training and Care”, will navigate through the human body to show how technology is used to provide training for the military in the contemporary medical operating environment. The “journey” will feature numerous stops along the way, including presentations on physiology modeling, distributed medical training environments, tele-medicine and virtual reality for behavioral health. Finally, the conference will focus on a vision of future medical simulation.
