Talend Open Studio scored a perfect 10 for value in a review by the InfoWorld Test Center, part of a 9.0 out of 10 overall rating by one of the world's best regarded technology publications. InfoWorld said Talend Open Studio 3.0 "makes an excellent choice for data integration" because of its low barrier to entry, broad reach via Java and Web services, and highly distributable architecture.
InfoWorld's review examined Talend Open Studio in six categories: capability, ease of development, documentation, performance, setup and value. Talend earned high marks across all areas, impressing InfoWorld with data integration features such as batch delivery, transforms, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) functions, data governance and a strong set of connectivity adapters. The review also commended Talend Open Studio for being "capable of scaling from small departmental file migrations to large-scale enterprise warehousing projects," and praised features recently introduced, including a native SAP connector, change impact analysis, and a ecosystem of components and connectors for community sharing.
"Talend Open Studio 3.0 scales gracefully to meet enterprise integration demands," said the InfoWorld review. "If the company continues on its current trajectory, it could do for data integration what open source has already accomplished for servers and databases."
Talend Open Studio is a cost optimized open source alternative to proprietary data integration solutions that require costly initial investment and rely heavily on IT resources for maintenance and upgrades. Talend Open Studio has been downloaded over 500,000 times since its release in late 2006 and offers more than 400 native connectors, ranging from database and packaged application support to Web services and flat files, and includes Software as a Service (SaaS) connectivity. The added connectivity and support makes data integration processes faster and easier to manage while bolstering enterprise viability.
"Companies need a reliable, high-performance solution that is readily scalable for enterprise integration demands, and open source software now meets these requirements," said Yves de Montcheuil, vice president of marketing at Talend. "We are proud to have earned this strong rating by such a highly prestigious IT publication as InfoWorld and see it as validation of Talend's commitment to providing our customers with a high-quality open source data integration alternative."
