Brisbane Artists Academé, incorporating Brisbane Art Workshops, is offering a scholarship to anyone 18+ to the value of $2,500. The co-directors, who are dedicated and professional artists themselves, have endeavoured to put in place a series of inter-connected workshops & Term classes, building solid foundational & technical skills, giving students the tools to confidently express themselves in whatever genre they choose, and are therefore proud to launch their inaugural SCHOLARSHIP for 2009. Entry for the scholarship for 2009 is by submission of 300-500 words on why you would like to win the scholarship, what you would like to study and why, as well as 5-10 images of your best paintings or drawings.

Workshops are held in Highgate Hill, in the art precinct of Brisbane. TERM classes are structured as an ongoing educational course with in-house certification, progressing from Level 1 for Beginners to Level 3 for Advanced. Old Master Skills development as well as Contemporary Explorative Drawing & Painting in oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastels and mixed media is offered. Art classes cover all painting genres from Abstraction to Realism, and all subjects such as Portraiture, the Figure, Still Life, Flowers, and Landscape. A Mentorship program is offered, culminating in an end of year Student Art Exhibition where we will announce the winner of the 2010 scholarship.

Brisbane Art Workshops was initially created in 2007 by Krisstie Byrnne, a professional artist, art teacher and administrator, to provide beginning students to professional artists with an opportunity to sharpen their technical skills, as well as broaden and develop their creative and professional practice in a series of weekend and evening workshops. This in turn expanded into the Brisbane Artists Academé in July 2008 when Krisstie partnered with Regina Dolan, a professional artist and successful businesswoman, bringing together an expanded vision of an Academe teaching Old Master Techniques and skills, as foundational training based on the famed Julian Ashton School in Sydney and those similar overseas. The forging of this dynamic partnership and a committed vision to bring to Brisbane high quality art tuition has been well-received by the artists in Brisbane.

Entries for the 2009 fine art scholarship can be sent by email or by post to Brisbane Artists Academé, PO Box 3201, Newmarket, Brisbane Qld, Australia, 4051. Finalists will then be interviewed and must present a folio. Entries close at 7.00pm Queensland time on Friday 30th January 2009.
