iCore Networks is pleased to announce that Stephen Canton, CEO and Chairman of the Board, has been selected by SmartCEO magazine as one of the Smart100 CEO's in the Greater Washington Region.

McLean, VA (PRWEB) January 7, 2009 -- iCore Networks is pleased to announce that Stephen Canton, CEO and Chairman of the Board, has been selected by SmartCEO magazine as one of the Smart100 CEO's in the Greater Washington Region. This award comes on the heels of iCore being named as one of the Top 25 Best Small Technology Firms in the Washington DC area by the Washington Business Journal and serves as a testament to the companies growing influence and leadership in the region.

According to SmartCEO, "the Smart100 is an exclusive group of 100 CEO's assembled by an independent selection committee. A Smart100 CEO is selected because his company has revenues in excess of $5 million and for his or her Leadership, Strategic Vision, and Character. The Smart100 group in aggregate employs more that 100,000 people, has revenues in excess of $8 billion, has won almost 1,000 business awards and donates significant time, energy and money to local charities."

Among Mr. Canton's achievements that qualified him for the Smart100 are an unprecedented two term run as Chairman of the Advisory Board to the Export-Import Bank of the United States as well as an active philanthropic portfolio. His most recent achievement, however, has been leading iCore to becoming one of the fastest growing hosted VoIP providers in the country.

In response to Mr. Canton's award, Michael Bertamini, Senior Vice President of Sales, states, "iCore is a company that prizes values like performance, hard work, and dedication. Our desire to 'get the job done' permeates the organization at all levels and is a direct reflection of the leadership that we thrive under. We are very pleased to see our CEO be recognized because we feel that the award serves as recognition for our efforts as a company as well."

This award marks an important milestone for the company and its leadership as iCore continues its aggressive expansion and looks towards 2009. Mr. Canton, when asked about his achievement states, "I feel honored to receive such a distinction. My employees, are very kind to remind me, however, that there are 99 reasons to keep improving this year."
