Edinburgh, UK (PRWEB) January 8, 2009
There's a new way of doing things at The Scotch Malt Whisky Society to ensure all members (and future members) enjoy more regular access to the world's widest selection of single cask single malt whiskies.
It is very straight-forward, the Society releases a monthly selection of new casks on the First Friday of every month. First Fridays will become a rallying call for true whisky lovers throughout the UK, as they rush to the Society whisky shop, to the telephone or the Society's Members Rooms in Leith, Edinburgh and London to pip fellow members to the post.
What's the rush?
Well as true whisky enthusiasts will know, The Scotch Malt Whisky Society only ever bottles single malts from a single cask, which means every whisky is limited in supply. Not only that, but casks are only ever bottled once they have passed the rigours of the Society's discerning Tasting Panel. In other words, every whisky offered to Society members is exceptional in both rarity and quality, so Society members need to be quick off the mark the First Friday of every month.
For an extra reminder Society members can sign-up online to receive the Society's First Friday email to ensure they don't miss out on their next unique whisky discovery.
In typically curious Society-fashion, First Fridays kicks off on the second Friday of Jan (Fri 9 Jan) - after all nobody in Scotland works 2nd of January! -- this is purely a one off rather like each of our single cask single malt whiskies!
As with all Society bottlings, the Tasting Panel creates the tantalising yet informative tasting notes for each whisky which give guidance to members as they choose from each month's whisky release. The Society's online whisky archive is a veritable treasure trove of tastings notes, highly recommended browsing with a dram in hand.
