San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 8, 2009 -- Leadership development experts from Interaction Associates (IA) will play a major role in the Conference Board’s 2009 Leadership Development Conference, to be held in two different cities over several days in Spring 2009.

IA's groundbreaking work to develop leaders across different industries will be featured at the Leadership Development Conference, to be held in New York May 14-15, 2009, and in San Diego on Coronado Island June 4-5, 2009.

This year's conference is focused on
"This year's conference is focused on "Building the Organizational Capability to Lead in Complex, Uncertain Times," said Jean McNulty of The Conference Board. "Interaction Associates is part of an outstanding line up of CEOs, thought leaders, researchers, and world-class Leadership Development innovators to present at the conference - an annual event that participants rate very highly for timely topics, speakers and actionable ideas," McNulty added.

Donna Tannenbaum, Vice President, Human Resources, for Curtiss Wright Flow Control, will present a session called "Unifying Diverse Businesses with a Common Leadership Language and Skill Set," in New York only. Attendees to this session will learn how Interaction Associates is helping Curtiss Wright Flow Control set a powerful learning agenda to instill a single overarching leadership culture in a company that is made up of 22 separate and unique businesses. Curtiss Wright Flow Control (CWFC) has partnered with Interaction Associates to overcome barriers as they seek to build a unified leadership culture with a development focus on establishing a common language and skill set. Session participants will learn how CWFC is using leadership and management development to build a cohesive culture: one that nurtures innovation, rewards excellence, develops leaders, and values people. Andy Atkins, Senior Consultant, Interaction Associates, will co-present.

Separately, Robert Toohey, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Verizon Business, will present a session called “Developing Leaders for a New Organizational Structure.” Attendees to this session will learn how Verizon has ironed out the organization’s structure and moved from a hierarchical structure to a flatter, more networked one. This required a new leadership DNA: leaders must be able to use effective collaborative methods to navigate a more ambiguous structure, while helping employees to do the same. Verizon Business partnered with Interaction Associates to address this challenge by initiating a coordinated series of development initiatives to build leadership and, in particular, collaborative capability. From the executive team, to leaders at all levels, to the Human Resources team that supports them, Verizon Business is improving its ability to lead effectively and collaborate efficiently across the
enterprise. Senior Consultant Andy Atkins will co-present. This session will be conducted in both New York and San Diego.

In San Diego only, Erin E. Deemer, Assistant Director of Leadership Development of Biogen Idec, a global biopharmaceutical company, will present on "Meeting the Challenge: Developing Mission-Critical Talent into Leaders." Biogen Idec identified the need to develop scientists into leaders of the business as a means of improving pipeline execution, increasing market share, and improving patient services. They set out to build the leadership skills of 150-200 expert scientists to successfully lead cross-functional teams to collaborate and innovate. As a way of creating customized learning experiences, Biogen Idec partnered with interaction Associates to incorporate a process using the observed behavior of existing teams to help leaders manage conflict within the teams --- and make decisions effectively, with the right level of involvement from key stakeholders. Marybeth Tahar, Chair of the Board of Interaction
Associates, will co-present.
