In the fall of 2006, Amanda Sawyer heard the words that no woman wants to hear. She was told that she could never have children. During the many doctor visits that followed her diagnosis, she needed something to help pass the time. So she picked up her knitting needles, and starting making luxurious handmade baby hats. And LibraKnits was born. "LibraKnits has allowed me the opportunity to turn one of the most difficult times in my life into one of the most rewarding and wonderful things I've ever done," states Sawyer.
All that positive energy seems to have paid off. In October 2008, Sawyer gave birth to a healthy baby girl after a successful IVF treatment.
While Sawyer spent the holidays with her new bundle of joy, Jessica Alba was also spending the holidays with her beautiful daughter, six month old Honor Marie Warren. On one of their recent visits to a Los Angeles park, photographers caught Honor wearing a LibraKnits Re sa Cap in Tickled Pink. "It's an exciting time for LibraKnits," states Sawyer. "We're really proud that Jessica Alba, who has access to the best products in the world, chose to dress her daughter in one of our hats."
This capped off an exciting winter for the company. In December 2008, the LibraKnits Re sa Cap was also featured in a "Sleek Shoppers" article in Pregnancy & Newborn Magazine. "The phrase Re sa, loosely translated, is the Buddhist concept of hope," Sawyer says. "We named our product the 'Re sa' Cap because LibraKnits wishes each baby who wears our hat all the best hope for a vibrant future full of joy and happiness."
