The Center for eBusiness and Advanced IT (eBizITPA) was recently awarded one of Pennsylvania's Employment Services/Workforce Development Grants in the amount of $250,000 to be used for the implementation of a new technology training portal. The funding will be used to meet the demand for training provided by eBizITPA and the eMarketing Learning Center @ eBizITPA (eMLC) by making more training opportunities and resources available online. This demand will be met through a two phase implementation of the project.

The first phase of the project, led by Carrie Teetzel, eBizITPA's Director of Education Programs, consists of the creation of eBizITPA's online portal network to be integrated with educational product publishing software, which will also be purchased with the grant. This portal will allow employees and employers in various industry sectors to have on-demand, online access to various content including training, tutorials, Webinars, research, case studies and various other tools and resources, all of which may be tailored to their specific needs. In addition, the online portal will facilitate ongoing interaction with industry experts via forums, live discussions and blogs.

The second phase of the project will enable the eMLC, directed by Cathy von Birgelen, to reach a broader audience by implementing a variety of online delivery methods using eBizITPA's online portal network. Use of such a network by the eMLC will also allow users flexible access to a variety of relevant information, training resources and tools.

"This project will provide the Pennsylvania workforce and our partners with never before known ease of access to a wealth of valuable information. We expect that the resources available through the online portal network will result in an increased amount of information available to an expanding target audience resulting in a deep impact on the Commonwealth's workforce," said eBizITPA's Executive Director Grethe Lindemann.

The implementation of this project will allow eBizITPA and the eMLC to help build a high performance professional workforce and support job creation by establishing a supply of workers trained in technology disciplines.
