Patrick Townsend Security Solutions (PTSS) announced today that their new Alliance Key Manager appliance will support key retrieval from the Google Android platform. In addition to deploying Enterprise key management applications on System i, System z, Windows, UNIX, and Linux, the company feels that Enterprise users will increasingly use the Android platform for applications requiring advanced data security.

Townsend CEO, Patrick Townsend commented, "Enterprise customers are very concerned about data loss and compliance with the use of cell phones, PDAs, and other mobile devices. As these devices become smarter and store increased amounts of data, the potential for loss is exploding. All Enterprise platforms, including these devices, need strong security, and this new offering will help OEM and ISV partners deploy strong encryption with total key management. The availability of increased security should inspire more confidence in Android and in turn will encourage the development of more business applications on the platform."

Paul Ohmart, PTSS Lead Programmer said "Google has done a great job with the Java development environment on this platform, and adding support for Android was easy. We were able to port our Java key retrieval API to Android very quickly. Developers will find it easy to deploy encryption key retrieval on Android using our developer's tool kit, giving them the ability to encrypt on Android and decrypt on any major platform."

PTSS plans to provide Android support at no charge to Enterprise customers who purchase the Alliance Key Manager appliance. Additionally, the company will also provide contract development services to help OEMs and ISVs implement encryption key management in their solutions. The Alliance Key Manager product will be available for purchase in Q1 2009.
