eLUXURY Launches the 2009 Stephen Sprouse - Louis Vuitton Collection A Tribute to a Legendary Artist

eLUXURY announced today the launch of a Stephen Sprouse and Louis Vuitton '80s-inspired fashion collection. Featuring the Grafitti and the Rose motifs, Marc Jacobs has created an '80s-inspired collection worthy of the fashion house.

San Francisco, California (PRWEB) January 15, 2009 -- eLUXURY launches the highly anticipated, limited-edition Stephen Sprouse-Louis Vuitton collection. Inspired by their original collaboration in 2001, Creative Director Marc Jacobs reinterprets two motifs that best represent the legacy of Stephen Sprouse at Louis Vuitton: the Graffitti, and the Rose.

"I did my best, in a very first degree way, to do what I think Stephen would have done, or has done in terms of fashion," says Jacobs of the 2009 Sprouse tribute collection.

In a celebratory revival of Stephen Sprouse's '80s punk-aesthetic, the motifs are screen printed on Monogram canvas in high-voltage Day-Glo shades of pink, green and orange. The rose motif, which in 2001 was featured only on ready-to-wear items, will now be offered alongside the graffiti print on one of two new limited-edition leather goods lines: Monogram Roses and Monogram Graffiti.

eLUXURY currently offers the Monogram Roses line including the cult Speedy 30 in Monogram Roses. Graffiti Sunglasses, Graffiti Monogram Pareo, and Graffiti "Louis" Bracelet are all available in eye-popping hues. Another item sure to spark a following are the basketball-inspired sneakers in Monogram Graffiti with glow-in-the-dark details. The Monogram Graffiti leather goods line will launch on eLUXURY on February 2.

Credited with pioneering the punk and pop trend of the 1980s, the late Stephen Sprouse became famous for his street-meets-sophisticate style. The original collaboration with Louis Vuitton proved to be a poignant moment in fashion history. Not only was it the first time Louis Vuitton's historic Monogram became a canvas for creative expression, it also marked the start of a series of celebrated collaborations with contemporary artists. Nearly a decade later, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs are releasing a new '80s-inspired collection that pays homage to the famed graffiti artist.

In conjunction with the release of the new Stephen Sprouse collection, Louis Vuitton will make a donation to the National Academy of Design Stephen Sprouse Scholarship Fund.
