Worldspace™ -- First Software Product to Fully Support New WCAG 2.0 Standard

Reston, VA (PRWEB) January 16, 2009 -- Deque (pronounced dee-cue) Systems Worldspace is the first product to offer full support for the new WCAG 2.0 standard. After five years of work, the W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) finalized a major improvement of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) on December 11, 2008. The rapid advances in Web technologies and developer feedback on WCAG 1.0 required a significant update to the standard for accessibility that is referenced in national policies in about 20 countries. Compliance with the WCAG standard is required not only by governmental organizations but also by responsible commercial companies the world over.
WCAG 2.0 is the result of painstaking work by hundreds of organizations that participated in the WAI Working Group to ensure that the advanced Web technologies were addressed and that all the guidelines were precisely testable. Deque is pleased to have contributed to this effort and began implementing automated testing of the WCAG 2.0 Success Criteria as they were being developed.

Deque's customers will begin receiving the new version of Worldspace in January 2009. A complementary service that will allow any organization to check its web pages for conformance to WCAG 2.0 will be available in March 2009 at Worldspace Free Analysis Software.
