Although the economy is suffering many furniture and luxury design professional see steady sales but with an emphasis on quality & value.

Consumers are seeking companies that offer more value & better quality. That is the observed shift in the interior design industry as noticed by Lisa Lombardo, owner of Auffrance Furniture, an exclusive furniture manufacturing & design company in New York City.

"Although we are a very high end exclusive custom furniture company, the shifting economy is not lost on even our clients. People are still spending, but are looking for a better quality product that will be well worth their investment." Remarked Lisa Lombardo of Auffrance Furniture.

She continued to explain that customers are evaluating the value of their dollar and looking for that dollar to stretch further. Consumers are choosing to invest in a product of higher quality, manufactured locally and built to last a lifetime (they actually guarantee their furniture for as long as the customer owns it).

In addition to higher quality, consumers are also demanding added value. Sample sales, floor model clearances or special promotions are a big draw in today's market place. Many trade only showrooms as well as retail furniture stores that may not previously offered sample sales are now promoting floor model clearances. Others such as Auffrance Furniture has responded to the trend by offering a 15% discount on their sought after headboard collection; when a client also orders coordinating night tables.
