Local Developer Bob Tol is bucking all trends as he unveils a new home development this Saturday in the midst of very tough housing market. The 100-home custom-built development near 52nd and East Paris in Kentwood is opening to the public this Saturday between 9:00am-3:00pm. With the housing market struggling why would a Developer jump in to such a major project? Tol says, "We know the Buyers are out there. More than 500 homes sold in Kentwood in 2008. We believe a certain percentage of those Buyers would like a new custom-built home… A home that is built just for them." There's further evidence the Buyers are out there. The Grand Rapids Association of Realtors reported this week that more than seven-thousand people were on their website searching for homes one evening last week. Most experts say the buyer interest is a result of extremely low interest rates and the first-time homebuyer's credit.
The Development, called Wildflower Creek, offers new homes priced between $135,900 and $184,900. All are custom built on the site. Nine unique floor plans are available. Despite the frigid temperatures forecast for this Saturday, hundreds of people are expected to visit the Grand Opening. On hand to talk with the visitors and members of the media are Robert (Bob) Tol of Tol Companies, John Tol and Linda Mason of LJR Homes Builders. Also available is Rick Veldman of Met Life Home Loans. Rick will be able to address questions about loans for newly constructed homes.
