Lake Oswego, OR (PRWEB) January 21, 2009
In a newly established fundraising partnership, the activist clothing company -- Planet Protect® Sportswear -- based in Lake Oswego, Oregon -- has finalized an affiliation with Shark Savers® of New York to create an ongoing fundraising partnership. The Planet Protect customer has a choice during the check-out process that allows 10% of their total purchase to be donated by Planet Protect to Shark Savers whose mission is to protect sharks from exploitation, shark fining practices and establish permanent sanctuaries for sharks. Planet Protect Sportswear can be found on the web at PlanetProtect.com and visit Shark Savers at SharkSavers.org.
Established in 2006, Planet Protect Sportswear was created to offer great beach and leisure wear to consumers looking for clothing made from sustainable products and responsible companies, and offers year-around summer wear sales opportunities (for those who travel to warmer climates during the winter). A majority of the clothing options come from organic sources (some certified and some non-certified) and other options from companies working hard to minimize their eco-footprint.
"I'm thrilled to be partnering with Shark Savers. Their outreach and mission is critical and needs to succeed in order for sharks to survive," said Jim Beriault -- founder of Planet Protect Sportswear. "When you choose Shark Savers during the check out process, we will make a corporate donation of 10% of the purchase. In the coming months we will be jointly designing new T-shirts that will tell their story and will raise money for this great group of ocean advocates."
"Sharks need our protection more than ever. Over 70 million sharks are killed every year while sharks kill on average less than 5 people per year. They are incredibly important to the world's oceans because they maintain balance and keep our oceans healthy," said Ms. Jaime Pollack, founder of Shark Savers.
If you are looking for shorts, skirts, tops or designer T-Shirts, Planet Protect Sportswear is a great option. Planet Protect is most proud of their T-shirt series - such as the Ancient Earth Series: featuring art from West African Adrinka symbols, or the Elements of Life Series: highlighting Earth, Air and Water symbols or the Sea Life Series - where endangered or beloved animals are featured on the T-shirts. "We constantly seek great art to feature on our shirts, its cutting edge design that makes a statement," noted Beriault.
It's important to note that Planet Protect Sportswear makes their donations based on the total purchase price (excluding shipping and handling charges) of the customer and this donation comes from Planet Protect's gross profit as a company and is not tax deductible on the customer's part.
