Dr. Erika Schwartz Announces New Initiative to End The Polarization Over Bioidentical Hormones

In order to eliminate the polarization, she and a group of expert and caring clinicians have created the Bioidentical Hormone Initiative, www.bioidentical hormone initiative.org. It is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating physicians, educating law makers in Congress and providing resources to physicians and laypeople on all bioidentical hormone data, science and state of the evidence on an ongoing basis.

New York, N.Y. (PRWEB) January 19, 2009 -- There is no formally-designated medical specialty in women's health that looks at the role of hormone treatments in wellness and disease prevention, writes Erika Schwartz MD in her latest blog on www.drerika.com.

She says that doctors taking care of women and working with hormones are polarized; they either support bioidenticals to a fault or reject them cavalierly without any scientific basis or knowledge of the science of bioidenticals.

Doctors pitted against doctors are a recipe for disaster, says Dr. Erika. It is directly affecting patient care. Women are suffering while desperately looking to their doctors for answers and reassurance.

Dr. Erika says that when the focus is shifted entirely onto the patient we will be able to create a better health care system with healthier and happier patients and more professionally-fulfilled physicians. "I will work to accomplish this goal.

"As a conventional physician who has worked successfully with bioidentical hormones for 14 years on 15,000 patients I find it hard to accept that if it weren't for celebrities bioidenticals would still be considered a dirty word by other conventional physicians and that the patients who take them would be victims of shoddy practices by fringe elements and feel obliged to hide the information from their doctors for fear of intimidation."

Dr. Erika adds: "For those who don't know about bioidenticals, please spend a few minutes to learn about them. The scientific data is abundant and the research on bioidenticals has accumulated for over 20 years."

DrErika.com is dedicated to providing an independent, honest view on healthcare topics and issues from a position of devoted patient advocacy.

Its founder Erika Schwartz MD, is an internationally-recognized patient advocate, practicing physician, expert in conventional and integrative medicine, author of four books and a frequent guest on TV and radio. DrErika.com doesn't tailor its stories to suit sponsors - it does not accept sponsors.
