"The staff at The Retreat at Marsh's Edge really makes all the difference. Everyone is so pleasant, the meals are very good and it is just so convenient," said Adelaide Ponder, an independent member living in one of the condominium-style villas. "My husband Graham lives over at The Retreat and he can just get in his wheelchair and come to my apartment or I can just walk over to him. It is really nice to both be in the same community."

Senior Living Communities purchased the property back in June and have made several changes in both the independent and assisted living areas of the community. At the Retreat, there is no longer a $30,000 assisted living entrance fee, monthly service fees have been adjusted to market rates and a specialized care system has been implemented so that members only pay for services that are rendered. In addition, Senior Living Communities recently added an assisted living and Alzheimer's furnished model and completed a $30,000 improvement to the Alzheimer's garden, made possible by the generous monetary donation of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Haggerty as well as the Montgomery family's donation of the beautiful statues, iron work and clay pots. The Grand Opening of the Alzheimer's building is scheduled for March.

Marsh's Edge recognizes the need to keep seniors active and engaged and has implemented an overarching philosophy of wellness, which incorporates the physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being of its members. The Wellness Program is led by a full-time, nationally certified wellness coordinator, who through this holistic approach will get members on track to live longer, healthier, and more productive lifestyles. In addition, Marsh's Edge has partnered with Genesis Rehabilitation Services to offer onsite therapy and education.
