Fairchild Imaging will be exhibiting new CMOS and CCD imaging technology at Photonics West in San Jose, January 27 - 29. New cameras include the Peregrine 486SX, a 16 megapixel cooled scientific camera for soft X-ray imaging. New CMOS image sensor technology that delivers unprecedented resolution, sensitivity and speed will also be unveiled.

Fairchild Imaging announced today that it will exhibit at the Photonics West 2009 Conference and Exhibition in San Jose, California, January 27 - 29. The venue is an excellent opportunity for the company to unveil the latest high performance imaging solutions for the demanding audience of optical and instrumentation engineers. Situated in booth 6034 of the South Hall, Fairchild Imaging will present new CCD and CMOS detector technology for demanding imaging applications in aerospace, defense, industrial and scientific markets.

New cameras include the Peregrine 486SX, a 16 megapixel cooled CCD camera designed for soft X-ray imaging. The camera comes standard with a conflat flange for easy interfacing to vacuum apparatus and boasts a low-noise, dual-speed, four-port readout architecture for superior speed and sensitivity. Dark current is minimized with regulated thermoelectric cooling to -50 °C. Linear 16-bit dynamic range and sophisticated features such as software control over binning and gain make the Peregrine the ultimate instrument for capturing soft X-ray data.

New imagers include CMOS image sensor (CIS) technology developed at Fairchild Imaging for demanding low-light applications requiring high-resolution, high-speed and extreme sensitivity. According to Colin Earle, Fairchild Imaging's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, "the new CIS technology represents a dramatic breakthrough in low-light imaging. These new CMOS devices outperform the best CCD imagers. Moreover, the inherently digital, solid-state nature of CIS offers significant advantages over traditional low-light imaging devices such as image intensifier tubes or electron-bombarded sensors." Fairchild Imaging will be exhibiting this next-generation CMOS imaging technology in their booth in addition to more in-depth presentations at their Milpitas facilities.
