Marin Software, provider of the leading enterprise-class paid search management application for advertisers and agencies, and Search Marketing Expo (SMX West), today announced that a new top scorer has surfaced in the final weeks of the Biggest Search Geek Contest.
With a top score of 76.8%, the new leader beats out the previous top score of 71.25%. The SMX Biggest Search Geek Contest is open to anyone with the mettle to answer 20 tough questions about the ins-and-outs of search marketing.
Contest questions have proven to be challenging, with the median score to date (of those answering at least one question) being 33.33%. Thus far, the highest scoring contestants have taken the longest to complete the test. There is no time limit, so contestants who are serious about winning should take their time in answering this complex set of questions.
The winner will receive a free trip for two people to SMX West in Santa Clara, California, February 10-12, 2009. The prize includes round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, and passes to SMX West 2009 for the winner and a travel companion. The winner will also receive an award on stage from Danny Sullivan, and will gain nationwide recognition as the Biggest Search Geek.
The winner of the SMX Biggest Search Geek Contest will be chosen based on who answers the most questions correctly. In the event of a tie, the time taken to complete the test will decide the winner. Search marketing experts have until January 28 to take the questionnaire and the winner will be notified during the first week of February. What's more, the top 10% scoring contest entrants will be eligible to receive a "Search Geek" recognition award from Marin Software at SMX West Feb 10-12. The first names, locations and scores of the top 10% will also be listed on the Marin Software site the first week of February.
