Red Carnation, the luxury collection of family run hotels, is delighted to announce four hotels with the portfolio have been ranked on the prestigious Condé Nast Gold List in 2009. The Condé Nast Gold List, a readers' poll of the World's Best Places to Stay, is the most highly regarded list of its kind. Approximately 35,000 readers of the magazine voted to compile this year's Gold List, now in its 15th year.

The Milestone - This 5 star accommodation in London's Kensington, including 57 individually designed rooms and suites and 6 luxury apartments, received an incredible rating of 97.6 for rooms actually puts The Milestone 16 points ahead of The Connaught and 10 points aheads of Claridge's, while the same rating (97.6) for service puts the hotel 9 points in front of the Ritz and 8 in front of The Dorchester. The Milestone is a member of The Leading Small Hotels of the World.

Condé Nast Traveler particularly praised the hotel for the thoughtfulness of the staff, its exceptional turndown service and its gently themed guest rooms. "Everything is in perfect taste", waxed the commentary accompanying the rankings, which captured The Milestone's atmosphere of a very comfortable (and beautiful) private house where everything runs on oiled wheels.

Hotel '41' - London's 5 star boutique hotel with 30 striking black-and-white themed bedrooms and suites overlooking Buckingham Palace's Royal Mews has made it on to Condé´Nast Traveler's prestigious Gold List for the first time with a very impressive score of 90.0 for service, which puts '41' ahead of The Dorchester, The Ritz and Claridge's in that category.

Apart from its high scores in the rankings, Condé Nast Traveler particularly praised the hotel for its fresh "modern mixed with classic" design and high level of amenities. The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa - This luxurious Cape Town hotel, boasting an eclectic mix of 70 contemporary African style and classic European bedrooms and suites, was voted to the Gold List for the first time. A ranking of 95.8 for rooms puts it alongside two of Cape Town's best loved hotels, while a 96.0 ranking for food places it first l in the whole of Africa and the Middle East, a seriously important and delicious accolade. The Twelve Apostles is a member of The Leading Small Hotels of the World.

This coastal Cape Dutch former homestead enjoys a spectacular location overlooking the Atlantic and offers some of the Cape's best sunsets.

Conde Nast Traveler particularly mentions The Twelve Apostles' 'spacious but cozy rooms' and its pastel-rich baroque interiors, and praises Azure, the hotel's award-winning restaurant, overlooking the ocean, and offering a unique fynbos menu using local herbs. It also recommends the Sanctuary Spa's detox with full-body mud treatment, followed by a freshwater shower in the spa's Rasul chamber.

Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve and Retreat - This remarkable wilderness reserve with 16 luxurious African and European designed rooms and suites located in South Africa's Western Cape was welcomed to the Condé Nast Traveler's prestigious Gold List for the first time.
