The energy efficiency upgrades to the sports facility feature dramatically improved light levels and heating comfort with significantly reduced energy consumption.

It's no secret that using too much energy is costly for both our customers and the earth. We wanted to do our part to be eco-conscious. Playing your favorite sport outside costs the earth nothing--it's nice to be able to reduce our impact to the earth when we move inside-these improvements allow us to do just that.

Indoor Action Sports (IAS) http://www.indooraction.com, Western Massachusetts' premier sport complex, recently completed a major facility upgrade of its sports dome. Living up to its commitment to provide the best sporting environment for athletes and fans, IAS chose Cleantech Solutions (Cleantech) http://www.cleantechsolutions.com to design and install energy efficient improvements that increase lighting levels and optimize heating comfort while creating an environment more closely resembling an outdoor experience.

These building efficiency improvements substantially reduce the sports facility's carbon footprint, an important issue for IAS management, fans and athletes alike. The upgrades will eliminate 35 tons of CO2 emissions every year, equivalent to planting 8 acres of trees or saving 4200 gallons of gasoline annually. IAS general manager Andrew Girard said, "It's no secret that using too much energy is costly for both our customers and the earth. We wanted to do our part to be eco-conscious. Playing your favorite sport outside costs the earth nothing--it's nice to be able to reduce our impact to the earth when we move inside-these improvements allow us to do just that."

The new lighting system provides five times the brightness of the previous system while modifications to the heating system reduce temperature variations tenfold, a big improvement in both energy efficiency and the comfort of the players and fans. Girard continued, "In this market, it's important to provide the best user experience possible. We were fortunate to partner with Cleantech and make improvements that benefited the players, our finances and the environment. Our players cannot be outdoors this time of year but the new lighting still makes it feel like the sun is shining on their game."

Topper Van Backer, Cleantech's VP of Sales, commented, "We surprised not only the athletes and fans with the increased brightness and comfort levels but also the operations and finance people with a 68% reduction in operating costs." This entire building efficiency project was accomplished in only 2 weeks without impacting the busy schedule of practices, leagues, and events.
