Weather Rebate Promotion Increases Sales 21 Percent and Yields over $120,000 in Free Furniture for Simpson Furniture Customers

Our sales increased by 21 percent over the same time last year, which was phenomenal. And we are thrilled that it snowed on January 14 and we were able to cover the costs of all of the furniture our customers purchased. It's like a belated Christmas gift for them.

Simpson Furniture owners and their customers all have a reason to cheer, thanks to a conditional weather rebate promotion the Iowa furniture store featured the last week in December.

Under the promotion, customers of the Cedar Falls, Iowa area furniture store who made purchases between December 26 and December 31 would receive their furniture for free if it snowed two inches or more at the Waterloo Regional Airport on January 14.

Thanks to the snowfall the airport recorded on January 14, more than 100 customers received total rebates on their furniture, totaling over $120,000.

"We were looking for an exciting way to not only increase our sales and awareness during a slow economy but to give our customers something to get excited about, and this promotion did the job," said Dale Emmert, President of Simpson Furniture. "Our sales increased by 21 percent over the same time last year, which was phenomenal.
