This was a man who could pull our country out of its plethora of problems. It is sad that the Republican Party was not more aware of the voters attraction to Ron Paul and his views.
Houston, Texas (Vocus) January 26, 2009
Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, former Presidential candidate, is presented a copy of "Hulagu's Web – The Presidential Pursuit of Senator Katherine Laforge" at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX. Author David Hearne, a Ron Paul admirer, was honored in meeting this Texas legend and personally giving him a copy of his controversial political thriller. Hearne praised Ron Paul in the acknowledgments of his book for the congressman's courage of seeking true political change.
Senator Katherine Laforge, an ardent admirer of Rep. Ron Paul's political positions and views, was greatly influenced by Paul's wisdom when framing her platform for the Laforge ill fated 2004 Presidential run. Ron Paul's entry into the 2008 Presidential race elated Laforge. She said, "This was a man who could pull our country out of its plethora of problems. It is sad that the Republican Party was not more aware of the voters attraction to Ron Paul and his views."
Anyone familiar with Ron Paul and those who have read "Hulagu's Web" will see that Senator Katherine Laforge appears to be cut from the same bolt of cloth. The accusations that Dr. Paul is an independent thinker have separated him from the current congressional sea of automatrons. The Paul-inspired Campaign for Liberty was a result of his deviation from the mindless march of congressional lemmings to the precipices of a national financial disaster.
Senator Katherine Laforge's story is one that parallels many of Dr. Paul's views and experiences, but in her campaign she meets deadly resistance culminating in the 2004 gruesome attack of her campaign bus on Route 12 near Charlestown, New Hampshire. "Hulagu's Web – The Presidential Pursuit of Senator Katherine Laforge" is a brilliant and slashing indictment of today's political scene that struggles with some of the most prevalent political problems of our time. "Hulagu's Web" is an ingenious and fast moving story, spiced with assassination, conspiracy, action, mystery, deception, suspense, love, hate, politics, and even faith. It provides a fresh and original way to think about democracy, political process, and corporate greed. The uniqueness of the story is in part because it mixes realistic and interesting characters into confrontations involving many of the key political issues of our time.
Emerging from the pages of "Hulagu's Web" is a thesis that members of congress and groups of businessmen could clandestinely work together, backed by substantial funds, to corrupt the present democratic system and establish their own plutocracy. Unfortunately, the proposition is a believable scenario and as the story unfolds, some will find themselves wondering if this scenario has not already happened.
"Hulagu's Web" is more than a novel of political intrigue, it questions and thoughtfully considers grave problems of our contemporary, global society.
The one question the book nor Hearne's meeting with Dr. Paul fails to answer is, "will Senator Katherine Laforge or Rep. Ron Paul run in the 2012 Presidential elections?"
