McGeehan joins Common Impact as a time of significant growth and change for the organization. The nonprofit currently delivers high-impact skills-based volunteering programs to more than 120 nonprofits, drawing on the strength of nearly 20 corporate partners in the Boston, New York and Richmond, Virginia metropolitan areas.

As managing director, McGeehan will share leadership of Common Impact with Co-Founder and Managing Director Theresa M. Ellis, who has led the organization's success since its inception in 2000. In this capacity, McGeehan will share responsibility for day-to-day operations and corporate partner relationship management; he also will oversee the Common Impact's nonprofit consulting operations.

"With his deep roots in the financial services sector and his broad experience in high-level management positions, John brings a unique capability to help our organization grow and fulfill its vision, no matter what the economic environment," said Theresa M. Ellis. "I am thrilled to work in concert with John to accomplish our goals and continue on our path of success bringing corporations and nonprofits together to serve their local communities."

McGeehan comes to Common Impact from Morgan Stanley, where he spent 19 years in various management positions, including serving as executive director for international fixed income sales; managing director of Morgan Stanley Japan; and, most recently, chief administrative officer of global operations and services in New York City. Now permanently based in New York, McGeehan will split his time between his home base and Common Impact's Cambridge headquarters.

"Common Impact's clarity of vision and commitment to engaging the human capital of corporations through skills-based volunteering is what drew me to this opportunity," said John McGeehan. "Now, more than ever, we have an opportunity to demonstrate the value of corporate citizenship to our communities by creating a new kind of bridge between companies and nonprofits. I am pleased and proud to join an organization whose mission to foster community service through corporate partnerships has never been more vital."
