Delray Beach, Fl. (PRWEB) January 29, 2009
Maritime Protective Services, Inc, (MPS) has completed a year of strategic restructuring, realignment, and re-visioning. This included consolidation of its U.S. operations and personnel at its new headquarters in Delray Beach, Florida, a new website that offers timely and topical maritime security information to the maritime industry, renewed government approval for its training courses, and refocusing of its core mission of maritime security training and consulting. MPS will be continuing to offer its unique series of MTSA/ISPS Code training courses for: Company Security Officers (CSOs), Vessel Security Officers (VSOs), and Port Facility Officers (FSOs), which have been approved in the US by the Coast Guard and the Maritime Administration… and in the UK by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and the Transport Security Directorate as well as by Bureau Veritas, a leading International Classification Society. In addition, MPS continues to offer their popular combined CSO/SSO/FSO course, also Coast Guard and MARAD approved.
Individuals with security responsibilities are to be appropriately trained to carry out their duties… remains a key requirement that is inherent in the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. And, when MPS launched its compliment of courses, back in 2004, the intent was to provide the entire host of stakeholders in the maritime industry with: 1) a clear interpretation and 2) guidance on the implementation of the ISPS Code. That intent continues, with MPS courses available literally around the world. Emanating from, either our "campus facilities" at Florida Institute of Technology, or our new "home-base" facilities in Delray Beach, Florida U.S. or… our UK operations in Poole, England. MPS trainers can and will continue to do "on-site" training - for the convenience of their clients, wherever they may be.
"As one of the very first private organizations in the industry (in the United States) MPS remains a leader in training and compliance - which was again acknowledged by their successful completion of the rigorous re-certification process for its courses. The approvals and acknowledgments, received from a host of internationally recognized industry leaders and organizations, bear witness to the commitment made by MPS to the industry - and serve to validate the quality and professionalism of both our methods and materials," said Dr. Bob Sewak, Director of Education and Training for MPS.
The response, from within the industry to the exceptional, high quality of the MPS training and its trainers, is extraordinary. Ship operators and Port facility administrators have chosen training options for their people that have included: sending many of their staff to MPS scheduled, open-enrolment MTSA/ISPS Code courses; and arranging for on-site training at one or multiple locations of their firm. As of this writing, MPS trainers have conducted more than 75 ISPS courses in more than a dozen countries and trained over 1000 Officers.
MPS provides certification for the MTSA/ISPS Code and, can supply a wide array of consultancy services to ensure compliance with MTSA/ISPS Code requirements. Assistance with security plans is one area of service: this year marks the fifth year of MTSO/ISPS Code implementation. Most Ship and Facility Plans must be submitted for re-approval, based on an updated Security Assessment. In the US, procedures for the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) must be included. MPS can help! Security Audits, Drills and Exercises, and assistance with Security Plans are also typical MPS offerings.
