They can also be found at UCLA and USC restaurants. Brooklyn Bagel Bakery was recently featured in the Los Angeles Times in which owner Richard Friedman discusses what makes a great tasting bagel.

Family owned and operated for 55 years, the company has established a reputation for offering the best tasting bagels in town. Recently, the Brooklyn Bagel Bakery was chosen as the "Best Bagel" in Los Angeles Magazine. This marks the fifth time the company has been chosen to receive this distinguished award. In addition, Brooklyn Bagel Bakery was featured on the History Channel's Modern Marvels, which aired internationally March 2008.

Friedman explains to the Los Angeles Times that a bagel must have good texture, good flavor and be well baked. Brooklyn Bagel Bakery has fine tuned this art by creating a firm dough, using fresh yeast and adding malt syrup, which adds extra flavor to the mixture. He also uses a controlled humidifying chamber to mimic the same environment used to create authentic New York bagels.
