In order to provide even broader and better solutions for their clients, Apollo has adopted and implemented some new policies, certifications, and general enhancements to their background screening services. Some examples are listed and discussed in the body of this article below.

"2009 will be a very telling year for our country and our industry and we want to be ready for whatever it may bring," said Eric Rinsky, Apollo's President and CEO. Apollo Services Inc. has always been on the forefront of compliance and knowledge retention in the background screening industry. Clients always hear-Service, Price, Accuracy, Turnaround Time-these have always been the key ingredients of a good Background Screening Firm. However, just as important nowadays more than ever is industry compliance and knowledge. These issues are finally coming to the industry forefront with many new regulations and third party involvement. In Rinsky's opinion compliance and knowledge are two elements that are vital to the success of any "Long Term" Screening Program. In order to be a "Long Term" program proper compliance procedures and knowledge/training must ensue. Otherwise, at some point there will be inevitable failure and possible legal issues that come to the surface. It is more important than ever to be careful who you select as your Background Screening Provider…There are many out there that may be putting you at risk.

Apollo Services, Inc. has taken some of the following measures over the last year to update their procedures and insure that their clients are always receiving the utmost in Background Screening Professionalism and Service.

-In 2009 the NAPBS (National Association of Professional Background Screeners) is expected to roll out an Accreditation Program for member companies and Apollo plans to be ready. In fact, Mr. Rinsky, who serves as an active participant for the associations Best Practices Committee, recently spoke at the NAPBS Midyear Conference in Scottsdale, AZ, where he presented the NAPBS Certification Checklist, A Tool To Help NAPBS Member Companies Prepare for Accreditation. In addition, Eric Rinsky has also written an article for the NAPBS Journal that was published in the December issue regarding the Accreditation Checklist and its proper use. -Apollo Services Inc. is now a BBB Accredited Business and has successfully completed the BBB online reliability program. Based on BBB files, Apollo Services, Inc. has a BBB Rating of A. BBB has determined that Apollo Services, Inc. meets BBB accreditation standards, which include a commitment to make a good faith effort to resolve any consumer complaints.

-In late 2008 Apollo successfully completed the Experian Reseller Compliance Review, including a physical onsite inspection in order to insure for the bureaus and Apollos' clients that their credit reporting procedures, policies, and files are compliant.

-Apollo has completed the certification for the E-Verify program and they are now a Designated E-verify Agent. E-Verify (formerly known as the Basic Pilot/Employment Eligibility Verification Program) is an Internet based system operated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in partnership with the Social Security Administration (SSA) that allows designated agents to electronically verify the employment eligibility of their clients newly hired employees.

-Apollo has completed the Certification for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, The EU Safe Harbor- The European Commission's Directive on Data Protection went into effect in October of 1998, and would prohibit the transfer of personal data to non-European Union nations that do not meet the European "adequacy" standard for privacy protection. While the United States and the European Union share the goal of enhancing privacy protection for their citizens, the United States takes a different approach to privacy from that taken by the European Union. In order to bridge these different privacy approaches and provide a streamlined means for U.S. organizations to comply with the Directive, the U.S. Department of Commerce in consultation with the European Commission developed a "Safe Harbor" framework and website to provide the information an organization should need to evaluate- the Safe Harbor.

-Apollo is now a self certified member of ConcernedCRAs: a group of like-minded CRA's (Consumer Reporting Agencies) that are concerned about the future of the employment background screening industry. This group believes that certain data practices employed by some CRA's place the profession at risk. Apollo became certified as a Concerned CRA as soon as the group launched. Apollo has always been dedicated to consumer protection and firmly believes in the two primary concepts maintained by this group of likeminded CRA's: Dedication to Consumer Protection by proper and responsible use of Nationwide Criminal Database and not sending Personally Identifiable Information (PII's) offshore without notification. The group is concerned that without these practices CRA's do not appropriately protect employment applicants from avoidable harm. Likewise, employers are placed at increased risk of litigation and public relations problems when their employment background screening partners employ these practices.

As the Employment Screening Industry becomes larger, more competitive, more regulated, and more exposed, Apollo Services, Inc. must consistently maintain and update the standards they adhere to. Apollo's President, Eric Rinsky, feels that now is the time where it is essential to provide clients with everything they possibly can.
