The UK private number plate 1 O was sold this morning at a DVLA auction sale held at Whittlebury Hall, Towcester, Northamptonshire. At that figure, 1 O enters the top ten of the UK's most expensive private car number plate. Following on from the sale of 1 HRH at the previous day's sale, the success of 1 O is seen as a further indicator of the resilience of the number plates market, despite the current uncertain economic climate.
1 O, which had a reserve price of £10,000, was purchased by an unnamed telephone bidder.
The sale, held by Scottish Motor Auctions Ltd on behalf of DVLA, is taking place over the three days from 28th to 30th January 2009. In addition to 1 O and 1 HRH, great interest is being shown in the number 3 S which is also being sold at the current auction.
