Zenbu Media, publisher of Relix, Metal Edge and Metal Maniacs magazines and producer of the Green Apple Festival, has signed the band Creation to its launched Artist Marketing Division. "This band is quite special," says VP Marketing Jonathan Schwartz. "Their level of musicianship, coupled with their work ethic, is nothing short of spectacular."
Creation, comprised of extraordinary high school musicians, features members Raechel Rosen, Sam Hellerman, Josh Schackett, Derek Orshan, and Tory Geismar, who have have been have been working together for five years.
Zenbu has a long history of working directly with artists. The list includes emerging singer/songwriter and independent music award winner Jonah Smith to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead). Says Schwartz, "We hope to use our creative marketing initiatives and long-standing relationships in the live music world to propel Creation to the next level."
In the past, Creation has worked with numerous charities, using its music to help those less fortunate. The band chose to "rock out" its message of peace, diversity, and youth activism while performing shows to raise money for charities in Africa, as well as various children's charities. Some of the band's most notable charity performances include United Nations International Day of Peace, Carnegie Hall Concert honoring Heroes of 9/11 and a benefit concert at B.B. King's in Times Square, where they helped raise $58,000 dollars to build a school in Mali. "Part of our mission is to help children less fortunate than us, while spreading the message of peace and diversity through the world," says vocalist Raechel Rosen.
The group is sponsored by Gibson, and its fan base includes high-profile supporters such as Steven Van Zandt, Nile Rodgers, and Clarence Clemons.
Creation is ready to take the next step as a band and in working with Zenbu will expand both its fan base and level of attention. The group's mature alternative-rock style has been on show at venues such as BB King's, Sullivan Hall and The Knitting Factory, among others. Comments lead guitarist Tory Geismar, "Our goal as a band is to get our music heard. We want people to hear our music and to hopefully be inspired to pick up an instrument and start playing."
