"Sonar" is an acronym for "sound navigation and ranging." It sends out signals and receives echoes. It's used by the navy to spot the enemy, and by bats and whales to find lunch.

"SONARconnects works on the same principal," said Scott Dunn, the founder and general partner. "We send out signals, we listen, then we react."

This is a total, one-stop communications agency. "But we're not an old fashioned ad agency," said Dunn. "We know what is effective in the local community by combining traditional efforts with the new social media. Local businesses have to get more personal, and we know how and where to hit the hot buttons with blogs, videos, and pod-casts."

Scott Dunn has a successful career in telecommunications and local promotion media. He operates TOWN PLANNER CALENDAR that connects to the community with events, ads, and incentives.

George Lemmond, the other general partner, has had executive positions at Target Stores, Procter & Gamble, and major ad agencies. He's in charge of Branding, Strategies, and Marketing Planning. He said, "SONARconnects is different. Our thinking starts by delving into customers' minds. We immerse ourselves into our local client's business -- sees what's going on there. Then we create ideas and programs that connect the customer to the business with a persuasive message."
