KPMG Uses Equivio Technology to Support Investigative and Evidence Collection Service

KPMG LLP utilizes Equivio's technology to support the investigative and evidence collections services of its Forensic practice. Through deployment of Equivio's near-duplicates and email threads software, KPMG's Forensic practice seeks to improve the efficiency of litigation review.

Cypress, CA (PRWEB) February 2, 2009 -- Equivio, a provider of software for near-duplicates and email threads, announced today that audit, tax and advisory firm KPMG LLP utilizes Equivio's technology to support the investigative and evidence collections services of its Forensic practice. Through deployment of Equivio's near-duplicates and email threads software, KPMG's Forensic practice seeks to improve the efficiency of litigation review.

"Document review represents the largest addressable cost in electronic discovery," said Chris Paskach, a partner in KPMG's Forensic practice and leader of the firm's Forensic Technology Services. "Moreover, document volumes continue to spiral. The challenge today is to seek out and embrace new technologies that can enhance the review process and reduce the cost burden of litigation."

KPMG's Discovery Management software, Discovery Radar™ and Discovery Radar.net™ offer a full-featured document image and text search and retrieval system specifically designed to facilitate the discovery process. The Equivio component is integrated within Discovery Radar. The Equivio technology allows the user to review documents in the context of near-duplicate and email thread groupings and allows the user to compare and highlight differences between documents within a near-duplicate group. KPMG offers the near-duplicates and email threads service as part of its discovery service platform.

"Redundant data, such as near-duplicates and email threads, is very well camouflaged. But redundant data comprises around 30 percent to 50 percent of a typical discovery collection," said Amir Milo, CEO of Equivio. "Among industry leaders, like KPMG, there is a growing recognition that the identification of redundant data probably offers one of the most significant areas for reducing litigation review costs."
