So You Think You Can Dance is Back - SYTYCD Gets Bigger and Better for Season 2!

So You Think You Can Dance - the smash hit search for Australia's favourite dancer - kicks off again on Sun Feb 1 with some familiar faces, exciting surprises and huge competitions.

Australia (PRWEB) February 3, 2009 -- So You Think You Can Dance - the smash hit search for Australia's favourite dancer - kicks off again on Sun Feb 1 with some familiar faces, exciting surprises and huge competitions.

SYTYCD was the massive ratings hit of 2008, averaging 1.4 million viewers and pulling in a stunning 2.2 million Dance fans for the grand finale. This made SYTYCD Australia's #1 Entertainment show in its very first year. Dance returns on Sunday Feb 1 for a second smash season with some old favourites - and a few twists.

So You Think You Can Dance - Who's coming back?
Natalie Bassingthwaighte will again host the show, with Matt Lee, Bonnie Lythgoe and Jason Coleman once more comprising our judging panel. Amongst our brilliant choreographers are the likes of Kelley Abbey, Jason Gilkison and Nacho Pop who will also once more weave their dance floor magic. But there will be some fresh additions to the successful format.

So You Think You Can Dance - What's new for Season 2?
Fans of SYTYCD America will be thrilled to hear that the show's co-creator and head judge, Nigel Lythgoe, is featured in Season 2 of the Australian series. Nigel came down to help choose our new Top 20 and these early episodes feature his trademark enthusiasm - and occasional sharp criticism. For the rest of the series, our three resident dance judges will be joined by guests like Kelley Abbey and some international visitors who will drive the live audience into an absolute frenzy.

So You Think You Can Dance - More to watch:
Naturally all SYTYCD performances - and every nail-biting elimination - will be featured on the official SYTYCD website. Last year, fans couldn't get enough of their favourite dancers. So this year an even bigger video team is working full time behind the scenes to capture more of the So You Think You Can Dance action. In a special video area, you'll be able to see exclusive footage that won't be seen on the show. You'll be able to see your favourite dancers in rehearsals, in the make-up room, pre-performance and post-elimination. You'll be so close your feet will blister. You're also likely to hear our judges elaborate on their more biting criticisms - and hear the dancer's right of reply. To view all this fab video content, you just need to become a So You Think You Dance member. It's free!

So You Think You Can Dance - Easier to share:
As well as providing more to watch, we've made this season's SYTYCD videos easier to share. There is a specially developed new "embed" feature that lets you share your favourite So You Think You Can Dance videos on your social networking sites including MySpace.

So You Think You Can Dance - You don't have to be in it to win
Jack wasn't the only winner on SYTYCD Season 1. Lots of lucky So You Think You Can Dance fans grabbed some awesome prizes including VIP tickets to the finale in Sydney and a trip around the world! This year the competitions will be even more enticing. Stay in touch with the SYTYCD website to win.

Dance Australia is more mobile in '09:
If our website doesn't satisfy your dance cravings, this year you can top up on the move. Customers of our premier sponsor Optus will be able to access video content on their mobile phones.

So You Think You Can Dance - Forums are back:
In 2008 Fans shared their love of the show in online Forums. The So You Think You Can Dance website will again play host to a passionate online dance community so you can share their opinions with the world.

Music and 'Dance' on your mobile:
Once again the official Dance Australia website is giving fans the chance to purchase and download their favourite music from the show to their PCs. Optus Zoo, the premier sponsor of the show is also providing a mobile purchase and download feature so fans can download direct to their mobile handsets.

So You Think You Can Dance - About:
So You Think You Can Dance is a 12-week rollercoaster ride to find Australia's favourite dancer. Like last year's popular winner, Jack Chambers, the champion in 2009 will get $200,000, an experience money can't buy, and national celebrity.

Over the past few months, Natalie, Jason, Bonnie and Matt have been travelling across the country in search of our next crop of Australia's best dancers. A short-list of more than 100 talented dancers were then invited to Sydney where they worked with some of Australia's top choreographers including Kelley Abbey, Nacho Pop and Jason Gilkinson. During this week the judges - with the help of SYTYCD USA Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe - had the difficult task of determining who would make it through to the Top 20. Each week the dancers will be challenged to perform different genres of dance including hip hop, contemporary and ballroom, and the viewers get to decide who gets invited back for the next week

So You Think You Can Dance Australia is produced by FremantleMedia Australia for Network Ten. It is based on the original format created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe from 19 Entertainment Ltd. and Dick Clarke Productions.
