Name the Scottsdale Cowgirl Contest.
Scottsdale, Ariz. (PRWEB) February 4, 2009
Visitors are being encouraged to discover the rugged allure of Scottsdale's Sonoran Desert for themselves by participating in the "Name the Scottsdale Cowgirl Contest." Between Feb. 1 and March 30, visitors to http://www.ScottsdaleCowgirl.com can submit their most creative and fitting name for the stylish, diamond-roping cowgirl featured in the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau's newest ad campaign.
"The contest draws visitors to our Web site to explore what Scottsdale has to offer, ultimately increasing our visitation and keeping Scottsdale top-of-mind," said Lauren Simons, vice president of marketing at the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. "In addition, those traveling right now are looking for unique and memorable experiences, like the Arizona Cowboy College."
This contest is part of the latest marketing strategies the bureau is using to entice potential visitors to choose Scottsdale for a vacation getaway. The promotion, aimed at encouraging travel to Scottsdale during high season and generating additional inquiries for the bureau, will run in February in New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker and in newspapers with the Denver Newspaper Agency. The contest also will run February and March in the Chicago Tribune, Calgary Herald and Vancouver Sun, as well as during Scottsdale commercials as part of video on demand in Chicago.
The top 10 names will be chosen based on originality, aptness of thought and relevancy. These names will then be posted online for voting April 1-15. The name with the most votes wins, and the winner of the contest will be treated to a once-in-a-lifetime, four-night vacation experience for two in Scottsdale. The prize package includes roundtrip airfare for two, 2.5 days at Arizona Cowboy College to learn authentic cowboy skills at a working cattle ranch, and a two-night stay at Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North where the winner will enjoy deluxe accommodations, a spa treatment for two, and dinner at Talavera.
The contest complements the bureau's new brand advertising campaign, which launched in January. Five new Scottsdale ads showcase the city's sophistication and vibrancy in the Sonoran Desert while exploring the layered experiences inherent in a quintessential Scottsdale vacation.
The Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau is responsible for marketing Scottsdale as a premier travel destination to national and international target audiences, including meeting planners, travel agents, tour operators, incentive planners and individual tourists.
